Gmail End of Life: Overview

On May 7, 2020 the official Sinclair student email application will change from Gmail to Outlook 365.

This change is occurring to reduce confusion and provide a more logical workflow for eLearning course mail by providing a single email address (@sinclair.edu) as well as a single location for email.

The first step in this transition will occur on May 7, 2020 when you will be assigned your new Outlook 365 account. Once the Outlook 365 portlet is available in the student portal (my.sinclair.edu) you should begin using your Outlook account for all Sinclair email.

To ease the transition from Gmail to Outlook 365 Sinclair will:

  1. Automatically forward your Gmail messages to Outlook. You can access your old @my.sinclair.edu mail until October 31, 2020 by following the instructions HERE.

Students are advised to take the following actions as soon as possible:

  1. Begin using your Outlook 365 account rather than Gmail for all Sinclair course-related communication.
  2. Change your email address to @sinclair.edu for any online site(s) or service(s) you currently have set with the @my.sinclair.edu address.

Note: Only Gmail will be going away on October 31, 2020. All other Google applications will remain available at my.sinclair.edu through the Google Docs portlet.

Key Dates:
