Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Zoom access, and notes about Windows 11—everything you need to work efficiently at Sinclair.

Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 is available free of charge to all currently enrolled Sinclair students, providing access to Office tools and cloud storage to support your coursework. Follow the steps below to install Microsoft 365 and use OneDrive to store and manage your files across devices.

What’s Included

  • Web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and more
  • Up to 5 device installs (PC, Mac, tablet, or mobile)
  • 1 TB of OneDrive storage, managed by Sinclair IT
Important: Sinclair computers already have Microsoft Office installed. These instructions apply to installing Microsoft 365 on your personal devices.

How to Access & Install Microsoft 365

  1. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com
  2. Enter your Sinclair email address (e.g., jane.doe@sinclair.edu) and password
  3. Follow the prompts to access web apps or install Office on your devices

You can install on:

  • Up to 5 PCs or Macs
  • Up to 5 tablets and 5 phones

Using OneDrive

OneDrive is your cloud storage solution for saving, organizing, and sharing school files. It syncs across devices and is built into Sinclair’s systems.

Accessing OneDrive

  • Go to https://sinclaircc.onedrive.com and log in with your Sinclair email and password
  • Or use the OneDrive app on your phone or tablet (iOS and Android)
  • Your Sinclair Windows PC will automatically sync files saved to Desktop, Documents, and Pictures

Saving to OneDrive

  • In Word/Excel/PowerPoint, choose File > Save As > OneDrive – Sinclair
  • Choose a folder or create a new one
  • Name your file and click Save

Organizing & Managing Files

  • Use File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) to manage OneDrive folders
  • Drag/drop, rename, or delete files just like a normal folder
  • Create folders to stay organized

Syncing & Status Icons

  • Blue circular arrows: syncing in progress
  • Red “X”: sync error
  • Yellow warning triangle: needs attention
  • Grayed-out icon: not signed in
  •  

Restoring Deleted Files

  • OneDrive files deleted by mistake stay in the Recycle Bin for 30 days
  • Access the Recycle Bin via your OneDrive browser or app and restore as needed

Sharing & Collaborating

You can collaborate in real-time and securely share files using OneDrive.

To Share a File or Folder

  1. Right-click the item and select Share
  2. Choose sharing permissions (view/edit, internal or external)
  3. Use the Send Link feature or copy a secure link to paste in your own message

Tip: Use People in Sinclair for class projects, and Specific People for secure, private collaboration.

Version History

  • To view and restore previous versions in Office apps or OneDrive online:
  • Click File > Info > Version History in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint

Zoom

Accessing Zoom through my.sinclair

Sinclair students use Single Sign-On (SSO) to access Zoom.

  1. Go to my.sinclair.edu and log in with your Sinclair username and password.
  2. Locate and click the Zoom tile on your dashboard.
  3. You will be automatically signed in through Sinclair’s secure login.
  4. From here, you can join meetings, view your class Zoom sessions, or schedule your own if required for group work.
Tip: Always sign in with your Sinclair credentials using the Zoom tile—not the public Zoom website.
 

Windows 11 Transition

Sinclair is actively upgrading classroom computers to Windows 11. You may already see the new operating system in labs or BIS classrooms. This does not affect your Microsoft 365 access, but it may impact how applications look and perform.
