In Case of a Cyberattack or IT Disruption
Sinclair has strong cybersecurity policies and infrastructure in place to protect the college and keep essential services running. In the event of a serious system failure or cyberattack, IT will take immediate action to restore access and notify students and employees. Here's what to know:
- The IT team monitors all systems continuously to detect and respond quickly to cyber threats, hacking attempts, or outages.
- Every Sinclair division has a continuity plan to maintain operations if the network goes down or systems are unavailable.
- All college-owned computers have up-to-date virus protection and are monitored to ensure security tools are active and working.
- Backups of critical systems and files are stored offsite, with the ability to run essential services from a secure backup location if needed.
- Cybersecurity starts with you – be alert for suspicious emails, use strong passwords, and never share your login credentials.
- Data is classified and access is limited to those who need it, based on applicable laws and best practices.
- Sinclair is a public institution and operates under strict compliance with state and federal regulations for data protection and emergency response.
