my.sinclair Portal
Your Sinclair account gives you access to important tools like email, eLearn, registration, class schedules, grades, and more.
To log in
- Go to my.sinclair.edu
- Use your Sinclair username (e.g.,
firstname.lastname) and password - View the Password Requirements & Reset page
- Click Open Your Mail to access your Outlook email
- Click Go to eLearn Courses to access classes
Outlook Email
All official college communications go to your @sinclair.edu email. Be sure to check this account regularly!
To access your email
- Log in at my.sinclair.edu
- Click the Outlook or Open Your Mail tile
Managing Email SPAM with Mimecast
Sinclair uses Mimecast to block unwanted or suspicious emails.
- You’ll get a daily email digest from
postmaster@sinclair.eduif messages were held - Review, release, block, or permit messages from the SPAM Filter tile in my.sinclair
Tip: If nothing is held, you won’t receive a daily digest.
Set Up Office 365 Advantage
Office 365 Education is a free plan for eligible students, faculty, and staff at academic institutions that have campus-wide Office licenses, available on PCs, Macs, smartphones, and tablets.
Includes installation of
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote
- On up to 5 PCs or Macs
- Office apps on mobile devices (e.g., Windows tablets, iPads)
When you log on to Office 365 Education, you will log in with your Sinclair email: name@sinclair.edu .
Office 365 Education provides 5TB of cloud storage (OneDrive and Outlook combined), managed by Sinclair.
Supports online editing and collaboration via
- Office Online
- OneNote Online
- SharePoint sites
Sending & Receiving Emails in eLearn
Emails from eLearn are “send-only” and go to Outlook.
To send email from eLearn
- Open a course in eLearn
- Click Email > Address Book > select recipients > compose > send
You can view sent messages in the Sent Mail folder inside eLearn.
eLearn Notifications to Outlook
You can forward course notifications to your Sinclair email.
To set this up
- In eLearn, click your profile icon > Notifications
- Choose frequency (daily/weekly/never)
- Customize by selecting specific updates
- Click Save
Connecting to Sinclair Wi-Fi
Sinclair offers two wireless options:
- SCC-Wireless (Students/Employees)
- Log in with your Sinclair username and password
- Use for personal laptops, tablets, smartphones
- SCC-Guest (Guests/Public)
- No login required; basic web access only
Note: Peer-to-peer file sharing, gaming, and streaming platforms may be restricted to preserve network bandwidth for academic services or for security purposes in accordance with the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Policy.
New Student Tech Checklist
Make sure you’ve completed each of these steps before classes begin:
- Claim your Sinclair account: Log in at my.sinclair.edu using your username and initial password (
Pass####) - Set up your Sinclair email: Access your Outlook account via the Open Your Mail tile in the portal
- Change your temporary password: Follow the prompt at first login or visit the Password Reset Tool
- Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Download the Microsoft Authenticator app and follow the setup instructions
- Check your eLearn access: Click Go to eLearn Courses and verify your enrolled classes appear
- Customize eLearn notifications: Forward course updates to your Sinclair email and set your notification preferences
- Connect to campus Wi-Fi: Choose SCC-Wireless and log in with your Sinclair credentials
- Review the Acceptable Use Policy: Understand the do’s and don’ts of technology use at Sinclair. View the policy.
